Back then, you owned things. You bought a CD with music on it, therefore you owned that CD.

Now that's not the case. We pay for a service to listen to music, but it's not ours. We have to use that service to listen to the music, and pay every month or so just to 'borrow' that music file, and in terrible compressed quality. We no longer have the freedom we once had when CDs were a thing, when we could rip the CDs and keep a digital copy of those files with us, when we could listen to music without being tracked by a large company.

The money we pay every month, doesn't even entirely go to artists. They only get a small cut of it. Most of it goes to the big company that owns the service, and even with it, they still collect our data to sell it and gain more money.

We need more owning, not more lending. A platform to sell music, and buy it. DRM free. Instead of putting music on a platform where it's merely being borrowed, and the cash doesn't even go to the creators.
