skiff mail

i made a proton account yesterday. today, i made a skiff.com one.

what is skiff? they're a relatively new, let's again say company, also providing private services online. but, slightly more different than proton.

i made an account at ivysaur@skiff.com (yes, ivysaur was available. ivy isn't though). the sign up process was pretty straight forward. i got a document with recovery keys too.

i'm here for the mail service, because i already have MEGA for storage, and notesnook for notes. and i don't care about calendars.

the email service is really interesting. it lets you use up to 4 different addresses, or aliases. i have two set up. but apparently, it lets you use a custom domain, for free. yes. for free. you have to bring your own though, but still. free.

and that's where it all ends. those two interesting things. and nothing else. no IMAP. no POP3. and, no PGP. you can only encrypt mail to other Skiff users. they do store the mail encrypted though, like proton does.

should you use it? if you don't care about end to end encryption with anyone other than Skiff users, sure. 10 gigabytes for free is hard to pass on. might want to see if it improves, but i'm not going to use skiff (don't contact me through the skiff address. use whatever is up on the whoami). i'll keep the account though, i'm not giving up that username.
