the ever changing size of the smartphone

remember the first phones? they were these giant chonky bricks that hardly held any charge. after that, the handheld cell phones shrunk over time. you know, Nokia 3310 much. almost the size of a chicken nugget!

we then entered the smartphone era, with the iPhone. now the iPhone wasn't that large back then. still nugget sized. but with other manufacturers making phones, smartphones got larger and larger. apple also followed behind, with the iPhone 6 being their big big phone (although it was basically a banana with those bends). we're here now in 2022, where phones are almost, if not the same size as your hand.

why are phones getting larger? i ask this question.

sure they're still easy to hold since they've only gotten taller and just a bit wider, but why. to me it seems pointless, as it's meant to be a portable device. i mean it is portable, but these phones are getting larger and larger.

if it was nugget sized again, I'll get it immediately.
