i got myself some cheapo IEMs
i like it when computers yell at me, but i'm not sure everyone else does as well. and so, personal audio is a thing.
at some point, personal audio was quite ubiquitous. get a crappy mp3 player from the gas station, and you get earphones with it. buy a smartphone, and you (used to) get earphones with it. look in a drawer, earphones.
these days, though, you don't get earphones. heck, you'd be lucky to find somewhere to plug earphones in in the first place! oh wait, nope, you can still hear computers yell. what's that? mmhmm. gasp, it sounds worse? and you have to pay more? and they explode after an arbitrary amount of time? what are the kids up to these days...?
luckily, i do have somewhere to plug earphones into. i just need earphones to plug. unfortunately, my phone did not come with a pair. nor did anyone's phones.
reluctantly, i went shopping. a quick search for 'earphones' brought up the latest """trendy""" products. bluetooth buds, knockoff buds, the same knockoff buds but yellow, ""gaming"" buds (aka the knockoff buds), knockoff buds but bluetooth, genuine buds but i don't have that kinda money, so on and so forth. i wasn't looking for headphones, so i didn't search for those (i'm sure i couldn't pay anyway).
and then it hit me. i've been listening to an aussie guy yell at things on top of a green ipad! with that realisation, i remembered a single acronym: IEM. or In-Ear Monitor. IEMs are... well they're earphones. but with these ones, you shove them straight into your ear. thanks to this, they block off outside noise too. good, but they still cost money. i suppose you could say IEM stands for 'Ivy Expends Money'...no? okay.
regardless, i looked it up anyway. and, wow. they cost money. lots of high end stuff popped up, and they were asking crazy prices. but one model stood out. i'd read about it before, so i had to take another look. two bucks. two bucks, converted from the indonesian rupiah. i had two bucks to spend, so i bought it.
two days later, they arrived at my doorstep, with a big thunk, which i assume was from the courier baseball pitching it at my door. i sliced open the packaging, and found a hard plastic 'crate'-looking thing. inside, the QKZ AK6 IEMs. two bucks. wow. i got the transparent (with white other bits) variant.
i've lived out of smartphone buds for as long as i can remember. and these are the best computer yellerers i've ever owned. in relativity, of course. there was a different model from the same manufacturer that was probably better, but it costed three bucks. i can't shell out three bucks, mate. so these should suffice. so long as they make noise, block out noise, and don't explode.
oh by the way, have you seen the top of this page? there's a contact page. has my email and everything. watch my inbox get flooded with all the replyguys being all superior and that my opinion is invalid. my opinion is invalid, that might be correct. but just let me enjoy these for a bit, mate.
what's my point? hmm... don't know. i've forgotten.
oh also, this isn't sponsored. i spent two bucks.
hated this post? i did too, so you can read more of this junk by subscribing to my RSS feed, bookmarking my blog to check on it every once in a while. want to tell me how much you hated it? hit me up through anywhere listed in the whoami page.
